A gang of armed robbers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen Wednesday
evening attacked the District Chief Executive of Fanteakwa, Abass
Fuseini Sbaabe, and some executives of the ruling NDC.
The robbers took away valuables including, mobile phones and an undisclosed cash amount from their victims.
The
DCE and his executives were reportedly returning from a communal labour
within the community when the robbers accosted them amidst gun shots.
Some of the victims who attempted resisting the robbers sustained severe degrees of injuries.
Confirming the incident to Starr News’ Eastern regional correspondent Kojo Ansah, Mr. Fuseini Sbaabe said the episode appeared like a drama to him.
“Earlier
in the day, together with the assistance of the constituency NDC vice
chairman, the Secretary, Youth Organizer and the deputy communication
officer, we organized the youth to do some voluntary work on the
Abourso-Deideso Road.
“After
close of work, the armed robbers stopped the two vehicles in which they
were travelling and subjected them to inhumane treatment. We were
travelling in three different cars.
“My
vehicle wasn’t attacked but the second vehicle, a Nissan pickup, was
the first to be attacked. The third vehicle – a minibus- observed the
scene; sensed danger and reversed with full speed to escape danger.
There were minor bruises from stampeding among those in the bus but
those in the pickup were molested and robbed of their monies and mobile
phones but luckily for me, my vehicle was not touched” he recounted.
