Aspiring
assembly members have been advised to emulate the maturity of President
John Dramani Mahama and the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic
Party, to save the local government electioneering from degenerating
into something undesirable.
A statement issued by Mr Stephen
Ashitey-Adjei, aspiring assembly member for Dade-Agbo electoral area,
Tema Newtown, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, said but
for the maturity of the President and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, Ghana
would have been in a mess after the 2012 elections.
"What is worrying now is that a lot of aspiring assembly members are at loggerheads just because they are seeking one seat."
According to the statement:" Friendships have been broken, kinship
shattered. There is hatred for one another because of grassroot
politics."
He questioned," Why should lies, abuse, vendetta,
vilification and hooliganism be employed to achieve selfish and
dangerous political ends?"
Mr Ashitey-Adjei called on Ghanaians
to demonstrate goodwill and empathy towards one another as "we build
bridges to a prosperous and a happy nation". |
