The Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) have declared a partial strike across the country.
Chairman of the association, Stephen Corqauye who made this known on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Tuesday
said the failure of government to resolve their grievances over the
Single Spine Pay Policy (SSPP) has compelled them to take such a
decision.
He said pharmacists across the country are currently attending to
only in-patient and emergency situations but have withdrawn services at
the Out Patient Department at government hospitals.
They might be forced to withdraw all services if government fails to meet their demands, Mr Corquaye warns.
The Pharmist strike comes days after doctors suspended a three week strike and returned to the negotiating table.
Since the migration of the pharmacists onto the single spine salary
structure, issues on the grading structure are yet to be determined.
There are 600 pharmacists in total manning the pharmacies of government hospitals across the country.
Last year a roadmap was agreed on between a cabinet subcommittee and
GHOSPA to help resolve the issues. But till date the Finance Ministry is
yet to implement the road map.
Mr. Corqauye appealed to the National Labour Commission to step in and resolve the situation early to avoid any unwanted actions.source adomfmonline
