Odorkor
District Police Command in the Greater Accra region is on the heels of
the Senior Matron of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH), Madam Ayisha
Hajia, for defrauding a female student of thousands of Ghana Cedis
under the pretext of enrolling her in the Pantang Nursing Training
College in Accra.
The search by the police, Today gathered,
follows the official report lodged with the Odorkor District Police
Station by a past student of Ghanata Senior High School, Belinda Danyo,
in Dodowa and her family on Thursday, August 27, 2015 in which they
alleged that Madam Hajia collected a sum of GH¢2,500.00 (Two Thousand
Five Hundred Ghana Cedis) from Belinda in May 2014, ostensibly to help
her get admission in the health training institution, but failed to
honour the promise and subsequently vanished into thin air.
A
police investigator with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at
Odorkor District Police station, Mr. Jonas Gebe, confirmed to Today that
a complaint had been brought against the senior matron at the Medical
Block Three of KBTH and added that the police were seriously looking for
Madam Hajia, who is currently at large.
Meanwhile, Today’s
investigations at KBTH has revealed that that was not the first time
Madam Ayisha Hajia allegedly duped unsuspecting Ghanaians with the false
pretext to help them gain admission into the nursing training colleges
in the country.
Our sources at KBTH disclosed that in 2013, Madam
Hajia collected thousands of Ghana cedis from a number of innocent
Ghanaians including one Gifty Anlomegah with the promise of helping them
gain admission into the nursing training colleges which never
materialised.
The sources further disclosed to this paper that
management of KBTH, a couple of weeks ago, ordered Madam Hajia to
proceed on an indefinite leave after the authorities of the hospital
received series of official complaints from her victims.
Narrating
the incident in an interview with Today in Accra on Friday, August 28,
2015, Belinda Danyo said somewhere in May 2014, Madam Gifty Anlomegah
introduced her to Hajia at the Medical Three Block of KBTH to help her
(Belinda) secure admission into Pantang Nursing Training College near
Accra.
According to Belinda, after the discussion Madam Hajia agreed to help her and demanded an amount of GH¢2,500.00 from her.
She
said together with her uncle, Mr. Thomas Anlomegah, they gave the money
to her as demanded to enable her secure the admission.
However, after receiving the money she said Hajia failed to secure the admission.
Belinda added that Hajia also failed to meet her over the issue to find amicable solution to it.
According
to the distressed student, Madam Hajia never picked several telephone
calls she made to her and neither did she respond to her text messages
sent to her phone. |
